I can now focus my effort to solve all previous word puzzles from Wordle 21 up to 210.

A few days back, I decided to move away from live games as Wordle is deemed gone. Not something taken lightheartedly, but I consider it much needed nevertheless.

So far, I’d completed past puzzles #1 to #10 individually; then went on to play #11 to #20 as two sets of 5 games each.

Today, I’m going at it 10 games in a sitting 🙂 Otherwise it may take too long to get to all of them and thus delay my start to play Quordle in earnest!

Let’s see how I fared in games 21 through 30…

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 21 Puzzle

Guess #1

What will MAJOR from game #20 do for us?

Guess #2

Just the A showing up at the wrong location. Let’s do DIETS for a balanced test.

Guess #3

Good one — we now have the D__T_ pattern with 2 vowels revealed. Looking like DEATH, huh?

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 21
Did NYT just sound the death knell for the original Wordle game?

Neat one solved in 3 moves 🙂

But whoa, did the answer to Wordle 21 presage the fall of the original Wordle? That’ll be back to the future… and NY Times actually did do something drastic (in the present)!

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 22 Puzzle

Guess #1

What comes out after DEATH is entered?

Guess #2

The vowel E is present, the H is sealed; but not enough. Gotta FLESH it out…

Guess #3

Incredible! 4 letters locked in with an obvious answer — that’s FRESH lol 🙂

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 22
Got lucky there with a 3-mover 🙂

Sure is nice to have an immediate repeat of solving the puzzle in 3 tries 😉

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 23 Puzzle

Guess #1

Starting FRESH it is lol.

Guess #2

Not bad with 2 letters locked. T is most certainly at the back, but could also head the word. Let’s see deeper with TIDAL

Guess #3

Alright, no T in front. This _R_ST pattern suggests CRUST is good to check the U (and O as an extension).

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 23
This is third in a row for a Wordle solved in 3 moves!

Lady Luck is certainly shining brightly now. For we’ve got 3 games all completed in 3 guesses each in succession!

Are we on a roll?

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 24 Puzzle

Guess #1

We begin with CRUST from the last puzzle.

Guess #2

Two letters known now; looks a bit BLEAK?

Guess #3

So the I and/or O has gotta be in there… let’s use TOILS to also test positions of letters S and T.

Guess #4

With T not in front and O not in 2nd position, L is likely at the end. So STOOL ought to fit well here.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 24
Solution in 4 guesses is our norm — this affords some neat play most times.

Our 3-wins-in-3-moves mini-streak is now broken! Back to getting the solution in 4 tries, which has occurred most frequently so far.

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 25 Puzzle

Guess #1

STOOL as a starting word should be revealing.

Guess #2

Wow, two O‘s and an L! IGLOO comes straight to mind.

Guess #3

Not it; but the confirmed LO sequence says a lot! COLON has gotta be the word 🙂

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 25
A little uncanny? We started with STOOL and ended with COLON! Lol 🙂

A better showing, once again, with this game completed in 3 moves.

Incidentally, STOOL and COLON are closely related terms. Kinda eerie, would you say, to start and end a word puzzle like this? Lol.

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 26 Puzzle

Guess #1

On the other hand, COLON might be less telling.

Guess #2

Got nothing, but not surprised. ADIEU is so special in that it tests 4 vowels at one go! Very useful 🙂

Guess #3

We know the word has A and E as vowels. Now to check the usual consonants with RESTY.

Guess #4

Have a feeling about the unknown word fitting the A__SE form, so here goes ABASE.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 26
Nicely guessed there, even if it took 4 tries.

I’ll admit that that was a wild shot 🙂

But still it was a well considered choice as I couldn’t see anything in ASE__, AS__E nor A_ES_ immediately.

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 27 Puzzle

Guess #1

A, E and S in ABASE should give us something…

Guess #2

Yup, at least got an A. Will PITON tell us more?

Guess #3

How did I come out with that second guess?! I almost wanted to LAUGH actually lol.

Guess #4

Alas A is fixed, but knowing about RSTLNE (from Wheel of Fortune) finds a word like RADAR handy.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 27
Testing did save the game, without doubt!

Guess #5

With the two R‘s revealed and their positions obviously following the A, it’s easy to see _ARR(Y) words as the likely answer. I don’t know if there is such a word as WARRY, so I’m not taking chances to guess at CARRY or MARRY; even though I might just cut it with 2 tries left. MACAW is a great filter!

Guess #6

And so it’s MARRY as the answer we seek 🙂

For sure, 6 tries are enough to finish this game. I might have wasted one or two in the early part, but careful elimination via testing ensured I got out fine.

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 28 Puzzle

Guess #1

Answer from Wordle 27, MARRY, gets us started.

Guess #2

An A and R showing up — that’s not bad. I’m eyeing STONE to show us more letters…

Guess #3

Nice move, we uncovered 2 more! I’ll try TREAD to test the positions of known letters, at the least.

Guess #4

The D isn’t inside the word. How about AFTER?

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 28
Intelligent deduction led to an abrupt end to solving this puzzle.

Guess #5

No F either. Rearranging the 4 known letters (intelligently*) sees REACT as the answer.

Hey, was there some magic there?

Actually, no! Just that the clues provided by the known letters all being in wrong positions (all the time) added up to deduce the correct word.

*R begins the word as it can’t fit elsewhere. E follows since A, R, T can’t be in 2nd position. A is next as E, R, T don’t belong in the 3rd slot. T can’t follow suit since no 5-letter word can be formed. With a REA_T pattern to consider, C is the obvious choice as the missing letter 🙂

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 29 Puzzle

Guess #1

Let’s see how the first guess will REACT, lol.

Guess #2

A & T revealed, nice going; so let’s not SPOIL it…

Guess #3

No harm done. Now looking at TANGY for help.

Guess #4

If T isn’t in front, then likely next to Y. Perhaps a double? I’ll check wtih FATTY.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 29
Done in 4 moves would have been kinda lucky, don’t you think? I’m happy with 5 🙂

Guess #5

Great move! PATTY is out; CATTY is too, if that is a valid word. (It is — just learned something new!) I’m gonna take not quite a BATTY (meaning insane) shot lol.

I didn’t have to run through the gamut of consonants in trying to fill the _ATTY pattern here, as probable onces were eliminated earlier 🙂

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 30 Puzzle

Guess #1

Is the WittyCulus Wordle Challenge driving me BATTY? (That’s how one might use the word…)

Guess #2

Might be, we got a no-go! Lol. How about a random word like SNORE?

Guess #3

At least the E is locked in place. R at 2nd position is likely and I have yet to check I and UCRUDE it will be, next.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 30
Working like magic there? Lol 😉

Guess #4

Three letters locked now! PRIDE is looking good as the answer!

Not too difficult, I’d say. Feeling good about ending this first attempt of 10 puzzles at one go with a 4-mover 🙂

Moving On…

Frankly, I’m liking this idea of a 10-game set per visit of previous Wordles.

However, the effort expended to prepare for my gameplay write-up becomes a bit overwhelming — at the minimum, there are 10 screenshots of completed Wordle game boards to capture; another 3-5 for Wordle-grams, after “sharing” them.

But I don’t think I wanna go light on putting down what goes through my mind when solving these word puzzles. That’s the primary purpose of starting this series on Wordle. Deviating from this will make the venture less fun too!

I’ll figure out something, for sure, as my WittyCulus Wordle Challenge goes on 🙂

Full steam ahead!
