In this second set of five-puzzle game play (spanning Wordle 16 through 20), a WittyCulus idea struck me as I begun the first game.

I thought about weaving a story around each and every move, and from one puzzle to the next. Thus, a subsequent guess is somehow linked — that’s the story part — to the prior one; and I spun a related mini-tale every step of the way 🙂

This was something totally out of the blue! A flash inspiration, if I may call it.

Read on to see how I played along and follow my story, all the way till the end of Wordle 20.

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 16 Puzzle

Guess #1

Answer from Wordle 15, GRADE, goes here.

Guess #2

Got an E — if that were a grade, it would be a LOUSY one to get lol.

Guess #3

U said it! Expecations seemingly getting UNMET so far?

Guess #4

A better showing now; but all will go QUIET after this move! 🙂

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 16
Made the grade here with good logic and deduction.

For sure, albeit temporarily — the silence will be broken pretty soon with Wordle 17…

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 17 Puzzle

Guess #1

Told you it won’t stay QUIET for long once the word gets out. (Just love the pun there!)

Guess #2

With U and I (another pun?) out of the way, let’s get louder with some OPERA 🙂

Guess #3

Ha, it’s a “lone-vowel” word! BELLY good, I say.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 17
Average game here, but a reasonable one 🙂

Guess #4

But Wordle thinks not! Maybe it BENDS another way?

Guess #5

Well, well; it’s taken us this far just to reach the BENCH!

Better late than never though. And we are not sitting down just yet…

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 18 Puzzle

Guess #1

For starters, how good will this BENCH be?

Guess #2

Hmm… we need to PROBE more.

Guess #3

Is it looking more like a TABLE than anything?

Guess #4

Guess not. But things are looking up now… we feel the anxiety ABATE quickly 🙂

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 18
Great play there from good reading of hints!

Indeed! (Phew?)

We were pushing on quite nicely, so the answer to Wordle 18 was due!

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 19 Puzzle

Guess #1

While we can’t ABATE the use of fixed initial guesses when playing the WittyCulus Wordle Challenge, we continue to give it our best shot.

Guess #2

A little early now, so things are still FLUID

Guess #3

Perhaps this move FIXES that?

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 19
Another puzzle where logic ruled to arrive at answer sooner 🙂

Guess #4

Well, we can’t really FEIGN excitement, can we?

Yes, we really can’t. Not when the solution is already quite obvious.

And therefore, the only satisfying way forward is to go at what feels right 🙂

Step-by-Step Replay of Wordle 20 Puzzle

Guess #1

If we got off with a bad start, do we FEIGN testing is actually going on… and going well?

Guess #2

I think there’s no need to. Just don’t play rashly; even TRASH can sometimes be helpful 🙂 Lol.

Guess #3

But don’t let bias or word preference CLOUD your thinking.

Mark's gameplay for Wordle 20
Nearly died? It was either a 5- or 6-move game…

Guess #4

Plough on relentlessly, in considered fashion. Be flexible when seeing relationships and considering possibilities. For example, VAPOR and CLOUD are somewhat related. 🙂

Guess #5

Well, we haven’t let our chances vaporize; instead, we should be very near to the answer now. MAYOR is the word which pops up, so let’s try that.

Guess #6

The answer has to be MAJOR, no two ways about it.

Wow, that sure took forever to solve!

A major challenge there. But we did get it in time, didn’t we? Though I feel it’s a poor way to end the puzzle set with a solution in 6 moves 🙁

Still, all’s well that ends well.

The story telling went quite smoothly, not just between guesses of the same game, but also across games. I really had tremendous fun doing this and was pleasantly surprised it could be done 🙂

I am not sure at this moment what new ideas will pop up in playing the next 5 Wordles. Don’t think I’ll spin another story though, as I found doing it can distract me, and detract, from better gameplay at times.

We’ll have to see… later, then.
